Microsoft has finally unveiled plans for its future operating system called Windows 8 so far. It was at the CES show in Las Vegas that the Redmond company announced that the new version of its OS is based on the ARM architecture.

After Windows 7, Microsoft has finally launched on the market shelves, basing its next operating system architecture designed for touch screens and mobile Internet. Indeed, the next version of Windows now supports the “System on a chip” ARM. So Microsoft will dispose of Intel (his partner of 25 years) and decided to partner with Designers of microprocessors including ARM: Nvidia, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. The future Microsoft OS will be optimized for internet tablets.

However, CEO Steve Ballmer’s group has not failed to mention that the SoC of his former partners, including the x86 will be supported. Despite this, the ARM Windows 8 will be a few hurdles on the application compatibility. Indeed, the repository still working on the Windows Office suite supported by ARM. Regarding the possibility of adapting to Windows 7 Phone shelves, CEO of the group did not make any allusion. Also, Windows 7 Phone and other predecessors of Windows 8 will be content of the smartphone market.

By launching this new operating system, Microsoft is trying to break into the market for touch pads, which currently account for 50 million units worldwide. However, it must wait until 2012 to take advantage of this new OS.
